Dear Parents,
Next Wednesday we are celebrating the Chinese New Year at school. If your child doesn't normally have a school dinner on this day, but has requested a special lunch on Wednesday please remember to send in the payment of £1.60 on Monday.
A working party is in the final stages of writing a School Travel Plan . We would like to have a special logo designed by a child to put on the front of the plan which demonstrates the schools' commitment to encouraging and promoting safe, healthy and environmentally friendly travel to and from school. Entries should be on an A5 size piece of paper in colour and should be suitable for reducing in size to a logo size. Entries should be handed to Mr Wilde by next Friday 8th February.
Congratulations to the school football team who were in action on Monday and played a great game of football resulting in a 6-0 win over St Augustine's Primary School.
Last Saturday two relay teams represented the school in the Central Area Cross Country Relay at Harbury. 33 teams took place in the boys' race. Well done to Isaac, Tom, Chris and Lewis who finished in 7th place; and Caspian, Hamish, Sam and Michael who finished in 16th place. A special mention also for Philip who was a reserve runner!
Well done to all the children in Years 5 and 6 who represented the school at an Indoor Athletics Competition on Wednesday at Myton School.
Netball Club will be resuming next Tuesday 5th February after school.
Please see details on reverse of this letter.

In supporting the day we would like as many children as possible to come to school by bicycle - we hope to have some bike technicians from Action 21 at school doing safety checks on the bikes.
If your child brings a packed lunch to school please try and send in a 'writing free' lunch which has no plastic packaging that has to be thrown away and cannot be recycled.
At the end of the day each family will be given a special gift funded by the PTA to help raise awareness of this important issue!
Get your logo down on an A4 sheet of paper, and into the school office by Tuesday 19th February (that's the Tuesday after half-term, so plenty of time to come up with something great). Colour or black and white are both fine, but make sure your name is on the sheet so we know who has drawn the winning logo.

Dear Parents,
Please find accompanying this letter your special Milverton Primary School 'Bag of Life' along with a letter from the Healthy School Working Party and a special pledge designed by members of the School Council. We would like all school families to support our work in school today by signing the pledge and returning it to school - if everyone is prepared to try and reduce the amount of plastic bags in their households together we can make a difference!! Please send in your signed pledge so they can be displayed in school.
Milverton Money Challenge
This term our numeracy targets through the school are focussing on 'Money' and on Friday 14th March we are planning a special Milverton Money Challenge Day. To support this and our focus on ensuring children are able to understand the concept of 'economic well-being' (one of the 5 outcomes of the Government's Every Child Matters Paper 2003) we are planning a challenge between now and 14th March. Each class will be saving loose change (1p to 20p coins) in a special container. The children will then make decisions jointly about what they would like to spend their saved money on - something to support the fun learning in their class. We would like every child to be included, but donations should be made with parents' knowledge!
Infant Play Equipment
You may have already noticed the wonderful new train that has been installed in the Infant playground for the children to play on during their playtimes. A big thank you to the PTA who have funded the equipment and to Mr Langridge for organising its installation.
Football Result
Well done to all the school football team who were in action again this week and played very well to achieve an 8-1 victory over St Augustine's Primary School.
Well done to the school netball team who played an excellent game against St Mary's Primary School, Warwick this week resulting in a 4-4 draw.
If your child is in Year 3/4 and you know they are going to be absent on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th March please let the teachers know so they can make allowances when casting children for their production.
The PTA would like to thank all those that attended the Fish & Chip Quiz. It was a fantastic night enjoyed by all and raised an impressive £350. A huge thank you to; Cathy and Mark Wall, Sandra Butterworth and Helen and William Clemmey for supplying the entertaining questions. Also a special thank you to Mark Wall for hosting the evening and Cathy Wall for organising the event. Congratulations to the winning team - Marianne Talbot, Martin Talbot, Becky Worwood and Louise Richmond.

Dear Parents,
Congratulations to all the children and staff in Years 3 and 4 for putting on two wonderful performances of 'The Giant Slayer' this week. It was great to see the culmination of the hard work everyone has put into working on this production over the past few weeks.
Last Saturday Lewis and Chris represented the School and Central Area Schools in the County Cross Country Championships held at Princethorpe College. This race had 80 runners, 20 of the strongest runners from each of the 4 areas that make up Warwickshire. Both the boys ran extremely well: Chris finished well in 32nd place and Lewis narrowly missed out on a medal in a stunning 4th place. Well done to both the boys.
Another great sporting achievement took place on Monday when we qualified for the final of the Central Area Football Cup. The boys played a magnificent game against St Paul's Primary which went to extra-time, penalties and then sudden death penalties - a real nail biter!! Well done to all the boys who played really well as a team and gave maximum effort throughout!!
